Zooarchaeology Lab

ARC is happy to announce that we now offer zooarchaeology as an independent service.

Zooarchaeology explores past human-animal relationships, providing baseline knowledge for present day conservation efforts. ARC’s faunal lab is equipped with a comparative collection of more than 60 species of mammals, birds, reptiles and fish. These range from common native species such as white-tailed deer and eastern cottontail rabbit, to rarer residents such as ringtail and javelina. Additionally, ARC uses extensive online digital databases and our own in-house library containing a comprehensive collection of digital and hard-copy references. The library includes skeletal atlases, works on zoo archaeological method and theory, and regional archaeological reports and journals. The lab is staffed by experienced zooarchaeologists with comprehensive specializations and an exemplary internal project track record.
