Thank you for your interest in AR Consultants’ Undergraduate Internship! This program is intended to provide undergraduate students in archaeology or a related field with real-world experience in an active cultural resource management (CRM) company. In this program, interns will learn the basics of practical archaeological work including:
- Artifact washing
- Gain familiarity with artifact types from historic and prehistoric archaeological sites in Texas. Learn proper handling and washing methods for various artifact types
- Artifact Analysis
- Shadow analysts of various historic and prehistoric artifact types.
- Curation
- Learn how projects are processed for permanent storage in curatorial facilities. Assist in organizing paperwork and records for permanent storage. Assist in organizing and bagging artifacts for permanent storage. Assist in labeling and tagging artifacts for permanent storage.
- Public Outreach
- Help make pinch pot kits for local schools. Help to curate and record legacy collections for future generations.
Experiences will include at least one field trip to an active archaeological dig site.
Requirements:
- Must be a current undergraduate student in archaeology or a similar field (geology, anthropology, history, etc.).
- Must be able to reliably commute to Richardson, TX multiple times a week.
- Must have an interest in pursuing archaeology as a career.
- Must be available for orientation on June 3rd.
- Must be able to work 20 hours per week into August 2024 (end date negotiable within August).
- Must be available to work within the hours of 8 am and 5 pm Monday-Thursday and/or 8 am-12 pm Friday (weekend hours are not available).
- Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
